Spanish influence in Puerto Rico

While there are several cultural and DNA influences in Puerto Rico, there is no question that the predominant influence comes from Spain. Now that doesn't mean that Puerto Ricans in general are Spaniards but it does mean that much of what is Puerto Rico was heavily influenced by Spain. Overall Spanish influence in Puerto Rico is the dominate influence on the island, culturally and genetically. According to DNA studies, the average Puerto Rican has 65%-70% European DNA and most of that comes from Spain.
