Miguel Enriquez: The rise and fall of a Puerto Rican pirate hunter

How did someone born into poverty to a former slave become the most powerful and richest man in Puerto Rico as a pirate hunter during the 1700s.

Despite his humble beginnings, Miguel Enriquez's was able to obtain advanced upbringing and education. Aside from that, his preparedness and ability to seize opportunity were crucial in his rise to the top at a time when Spain was having trouble with foreign pirates and other European colonial powers that were threatening its economy and power in the region. His ability to lessen that threat made him the most influential Puerto Rican on the island for at least 30 years.
