Patrick Jackson: Activities and Activism for the Anthropocene. JALT2020

What happens next when you find a seagull tangled in fishing line? In this talk, Patrick talks about the steps he has taken over the past 5 years from being a solo litter-picker to organising a global mission to mobilise children to environmental stewardship and the Picker Pals programme. There are messages in bottles, strong language and plenty of anecdotes in this talk.

This is a workshop looking at ways in which we can use real-world experiences and environmental activities to help young learners deal with anxiety and a feeling of powerlessness in an age of crises. How can teachers and communities build and participate in projects that empower children and enable them to play their part in protecting the natural environment around them?
